Does the vinegar you use for cleaning have to be distilled?

Distilled white vinegar is best for cleaning because there's nothing in it that would leave a residue behind. And at about $1 a gallon, it's definitely not more expensive than other vinegars--it's usually cheaper, especially if you buy the store brand.
