What is the fascination with getting wasted?

I can not see what getting falling down drunk or talking to Ralph on the big white telephone is considered having a good time. especially with most likely felling like some body is beating you on the back of the head with a 2x4. With the cost of bar hopping, if you are old enough. now that could be $100+ and what do you have to show for it, maybe some bragging rights and a bunch of filtered booze.Who are you trying to impress?
