Socialism kills the spirit by trying to quell needs. If we have nothing for which to strive, if our needs are handled by outside interests, we have nothing to strengthen our will. It is pain that gives us will. By trying to remove or prevent pain, socialism ends up killing the very population it strives to save. Global birth rates, while not perfect, tend to confirm this.
