How do I get local channels on Directv?

When you call directv, ask them to look up your local channels by zip code, see if they are available at all, some areas were in transition from the 72 satellite-- but that's a whole other story. If they are not available, ask to speak with "Distant Network Services, (DNS for short) " they supply both east and west coast feeds of locals such as NBC, FOX, and ABC when locals are not available. Honestly, the only way that I can see your waivers being denied is if they are available. This is a very wide and complicated topic, but I will help in any way that I can. Local stations can be a complicated topic for tech support sometimes, so if you can't get a straight answer, ask for a supervisor, they are EXTREMELY knowledgable in this subject and will tell you straight up the road to go on.
