How did I inherit my two different colored eyes? Will my kids also inherit it?

I was born with one light blue eye and one half dark blue and half hazelish-green eye. My mother has dark blue eyes and my father has gray eyes. I know that both of these colors have two recessive alleles, so out of curiosity, how did I inherit heterochromia? Also, what are the chances that my children will inherit heterochromia?
