Ending conflict through science?

I've lately been pondering ways to end conflict through scientific principles. The goal being to render projectiles useless, perhaps even temporarily disable the combatants. Is anyone aware of any research relative to the idea of selectively amplifying the field of gravity? This would have the effect of pulling combatants and their weapons to the ground without really harming them and perhaps disorienting them long enough for them to be disarmed.
